10 years ago today we lost an innovator of early technical death metal, a hero, and a legend. For those that don’t know, Chuck Schuldiner was diagnosed in 1999 with a form of brain cancer that invades the brain stem. Though initial therapy and surgery was a success, the cancer returned two years later and this time Chuck would lose the battle.
Through Chuck’s career, he brought us some pretty insane albums with great licks and riffs. There will always be nay-sayers and people that hate Chuck without warrant, but his legacy will live on through his music…and nothing can stop that.
(Ten years after his death, we may finally see the release of the last Control Denied album, which is supposedly looking at a December 27th, release.)
