Epica Reveals Details For New Album. Be Prepared For More Eco Social Symphonic Metal

My apologies if that banner title sounds a bit snarky. I’m actually looking forward to a new Epica album for the music alone but after Mark Janssen’s Mayan project and revisiting the context of past Epica releases I’m pretty positive the folks in this band think the world is going to end in our lifetimes. Why? Just check out the press quote on their newest release ‘Requiem For the Indifferent’.

This title refers to the end of an era. Mankind can no longer stick their head in the sand for the things that are happening around us. We are facing many challenges. There is an enormous tension between different religions and cultures, wars, natural disasters and a huge financial crisis, which is getting out of control. More than ever we will need each other to overcome these problems. As we are all connected; the universe, earth, nature, animals and human beings, this period in time will be the prelude to the end for those who still don’t want to, or simply won’t see it. ‘A Requiem For The Indifferent’, but also a possibility for a new beginning with great new chances!

That quote makes my head hurt for various reasons but with that said Epica is probably the frontrunner to be the best band of this genre thanks to their peers either moving to different genres or disbanding. The last release ‘Design Your Universe’ had some fantastic songs on it and was probably my favorite release. Requiem releases on March 9th and after the jump is the track listing.

  1. Simone was only in covers of The Divine Conspiracy and The Phantom Agony. She wasn’t on covers of Consign To Oblivion, The Score, The Classical Conspiracy nor Design Your Universe so no this is not the first cover she isn’t on.
