There has been a slight misinterpretations as to Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine’s comments conserning the presidential race. Many websites reported that Dave Mustaine was endorsing Rick Santorum for the republican candidacy. While he didn’t actually use the word “endorse”, he did make it a bit evident that that’s who he would like to see in the White house.
In an interview with Musicradar.com, he was quoted as saying, “You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I’m hoping that if it does come down to it, we’ll see a Republican in the White House… and that it’s Rick Santorum.” While that doesn’t say that he endorses him, it does make it sound like it.
In an article on Billboard.com, he said, “Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate,”. That may sound like an endorsement to some, but to others it might only sound like a simple comment of opinion. Either way, it is clear as to who he is following and/or favoring at this point. The real question is…does it really matter?
Id an endorsement from a heavy metal artist matter to anyone outside of the heavy metal world? Most voters are saying “Dave who?” Even if it was a more well known musician, does that still sway a voters decision when it comes to the polls? I would hope not, and I would hope that people would make their own decisions based upon their own opinions and studies of the candidates.
Honestly, it doesn’t really matter at this point in the United States of America. These days it’s a crap shoot. It feels as if you are trying to decide which candidate is going to be the lesser of two evils or the man who is less likely to really fuck things up. While they stand there and talk about all of the things they are going to change and make better for America, the truth is they only have their own self-interest in mind and we’re going to bitch and complain about whoever gets elected.
