Angel Witch To Release New Album, ‘As Above, So Below’ March 27th

If you like NWOBHM, there are few bands better than Angel Witch. Their self-titled 1980 album is NWOBHM solid gold. London’s Angel Witch has been on and off for the past 33 years of their existence with massive lineup changes over that time-span. The foundation of the band has always been singer and guitarist, Kevin Heybourne, and still is. The latest line-up even features Carcass legend Bill Steer on guitars. Now I’m not sure if this is just a touring or session thing, but their Myspace Page and Facebook shows him as a member. Kevin and his collective is getting ready to release a new album on March 27th called As Above, So Below. From what I can gather, the new album only has a few newly written tracks, while the rest were written back in the late 70’s or 80’s and recorded for this album. The new album was produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano, who has worked on such albums as Ghost’s ‘Opus, Premordial’s Redemption, and Cathedral’s A New Ice Age.

Below you can hear the song “Dead Sea Scrolls”, which was written back in the early to mid 80’s. The song sounds fantastic and brings a modern sound to an otherwise aged genre. I especially enjoy hearing Kevin on the vocals. Screamin’ And Bleedin’ and Frontal Asasult never quite sounded right with David Tattum singing. I’ll likely be doing a review when the promo drops, so stay tuned. After the fold, you can find the tracklist and a link to preorder the new album. Look for it on Metal Blade on March 27th (in the U.S.).

  1. Scott, thank you so much for this information. I am a HUGE Angel Witch fan and have their vinyl. I am glad to see Kevin Heybourne will still be on vocals. Thanks again.
