I first fell for Cattle Decapitation a few years ago when they released The Harvest Floor. Their form of grindcore/death metal is one that sort of sets itself apart from most acts out there. It’s raw, fast and has an edge as sharp as a straight razor. Their older work is more grind than death metal, with much shorter songs and they have always had thought provoking album covers, such as Humanure (another killer album). Though since their formation in 1996 there has been a lot of lineup changes, the core of the current band is vocalist Travis Ryan, who came on in 1999. So, three years after the amazing Harvest Floor, comes Monolith of Inhumanity, which comes out on May 8th on Metal Blade records. The first single from the album, “A Living, Breathing Piece Of Defecating Meat” can be heard below and you can preorder the album at Metal Blade’s Monolith’ landing page.
