Pulled from the Abyss: IIIrd Alternative, 40 Watt Sun, Artizan

Here are more bands that are deserving of your attention and your hard earned bucks! Shut off whatever you are listening to right now and check these bands out. All of them deserve to be heard.

First off, I am going to start off with instrumental prog act IIIrd Alternative. I usually don’t like most instrumental music as I’m not a musician and half he time it seems like it’s just being played to impress other musicians. Well, not this time, this is some stuff that I can actually get into:

Next up is 40 Watt Sun, a doomier type of band that released one of my favorite albums last year “The Inside Room”. Check out “Restless” from the album:

Artizan’s “Curse of the Artizan” was also released last year. They are a melodic metal band from Florida and the album was very good, but largely overlooked by the metal press in general. This song is called “The Man in Black”.

OK, you like Doom? Check out Bereft. Their album “Leichenhaus” comes out today and it smokes so bad! The band features members of Intronaut, Graviton, Absymal Dawn and a former member of The Faceless. Seriously check this one out for some s-l-o-w doom that just crushes your insides.

And last but not least we have the band Bible of the Devil who play metal the old school NWOBHM way. Their album “For the Love of Thugs and Fools” comes out on May 8th. This live video of the song “While You Were Away” is a bit shitty quality-wise, but the audio isn’t too bad.
