Burnt Offerings: Lost Horizon

Swedish power metallers Lost Horizon put out a couple of outstanding albums in the early-2000s, but have been noticeably silent since.  They originated in the early 90s, but didn’t put out any work then and were a “source” of members for Hammerfall.  Singer Wojtek Lisicki left the band in 2004 and they seem to have struggled putting anything together since then, which is unfortunate, as I thoroughly enjoyed both Awakening the World and A Flame to the Ground Beneath. Aside from the silly face paint and the ridiculous names, Lost Horizon proved to be a group generating well-written and executed songs, melodic yet heavy.  I still hold out hope for new material, but 8 years on my optimism is fading.  At least they left us with some good Northern European PM!

Check out Cry of a Restless Soul from 2003’s A Flame to the Ground Beneath. This is my favorite LH song, a truly outstanding and epic tune, galloping in places, great riffing, superb vocal performance – this is why I love the power metal genre.

I hear the sound in a METAL way.
