Devil’s Review: Abelina Valley-The Low Country Sessions EP

Abelina Valley are a bit of a mystery as to origins and band history. I’ve been able to find nothing on the web about them other than the fact that they are from Montana. Despite so little information about the band I was able to get and hear a copy of their excellent “Low Country Sessions EP”. What I do know after haring the EP is that the band play some great heavy blues based rock with some sludge mixed in. At only four songs long “The Low Country Sessions” is on the short side, but man does it ever make you want to hear more of these guys!

The best comparison I could make as to sound would be to compare the band to a gathering of Lynard Skynard, Mastodon and ZZ Top all mixed together in a blender for an extremely unique sound. While all of the songs are quite good, the highlight for me would be the infectiously bluesy “Crows Full Of Corpses” . Check the song “House of Earth” out at their Bandcamp page and then order the EP on itunes.
