Queensryche Introduce New Singer Todd La Torre On Album Promo

Lawsuits with ousted singer Geoff Tate over ownership of the Queensryche name hasn’t slowed the band down, as they are currently working on material with new vocalist Todd La Torre. The group, rounded out by Michael Wilton, Scott Rockenfield, Eddie Jackson, and Parker Lundgren, have posted the first teaser of their forthcoming album, set for release in 2013.

“The teaser audio are demos only,” states La Torre, best known for his work with Crimson Glory. “We start tracking in two weeks. No outside writers have been used. This IS Queensryche’s writing and we’re proud to introduce the next chapter of the legacy. We are very proud to have James Barton on board, he is surely the right man for this, as already proven. Lastly, I’m very happy to know that finally ‘my’ voice will be heard in it’s truest form.”

In June Queensryche parted ways with front man Geoff Tate. “Over the past few months, there have been growing creative differences within Queensryche. We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction,” drummer Scott Rockenfield said in a statement at the time. “We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We can’t wait to bring Queensryche to our fans with Todd behind the microphone.”

On July 13 Queensryche defeated a motion for a preliminary injunction that would have kept it from touring and operating under the band name, AGPS Management senior manager Glen Parrish exclusively tells Billboard. The act is defending a complaint filed by former singer Geoff Tate in a Washington state court over whether he should be awarded the Queensryche name after being expelled from the group.

“We are excited that the Washington courts saw what we and the fans have always known, that Queensryche is more than any one member,” Parrish said in a statement. “We are sorry we had to go to court to show this, but we are determined to bring back the quality product Queensryche was known for. We can’t wait to unveil to the fans what the band creates next musically.”

  1. I dunno, after so many years of garbage output, and all of the drama they’ve had, I’m really not sure if anyone out there even cares anymore. I think it’ll really take a lot to win people back and get them interested again. I hope it happens, honestly, I think it would be great — but I just don’t know.

    • I tend to agree. It is always hard to replace a lead singer. It didn’t work for Judas Priest, It didn’t work for Metal Church, it would not work for Scorpions or Rush…However, that being said, for me, if the name was not Queensryche, it wold not matter.
