Deep Purples Jon Lord Passes Away at Age 71

Late last year we posted about Deep Purples Jon Lord being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the same that afflicted Ronnie James Dio. Deep Purple’s Jon Lord Diagnosed With Cancer

Yeah pretty crappy news on the health front today. Jon Lord, legendary keyboard player for even more legendary band Deep Purple announced today on his website that he is diagnosed with having cancer. Here is his quote.

“I would like all my friends, followers, fans and fellow travelers to know that I am fighting cancer and will therefore be taking a break from performing while getting the treatment and cure.

“I shall, of course, be continuing to write music — in my world it just has to be part of the therapy — and I fully expect to be back in good shape next year.

“God bless and see you soon.”

All I can say is I wish the best of luck to you in this fight, Jon. I’m far from the biggest Deep Purple fan but there is no denying what you and the band brought to the table in terms of music and influence.
