My apologies for the lateness of this weeks ‘Among The Living’, but my current schedule is taking some getting used to. Anyway, this weeks ATL brings a progressive thrash band that has been around for a quite some time, only really gaining popularity outside of their hometown of Tempe, Arizona in the past few years. Formed by guitarist/vocalist David DiSanto, Vektor came to life in 2002, the band has released three demo albums and two full length albums, both on American label Heavy Artillery Records. Heavy Artillery was recently acquired by Earache and unfortunately their two albums are currently out of print until Earache starts printing them again. However, you can still find these albums on iTunes. (Outer Isolation and Black Future)
2009’s Black Future proved that Vektor was a neo-thrash band that wasn’t just a tribute to thrash bands of the past; bringing their own progressive and melodic style with speed and ferocity with a sci-fi theme. The nine track album featured some very amazing tracks such as ‘Destroying The Cosmos” and “Forest Of Legend”. In 2011, Vektor released Outer Isolation, continuing their aural assault. They have toured underneath other well known and/or legendary bands such as Testament, Iced Earth, Municipal Waste and Hirax.
Vektor recently announced a new tour that kicks off tonight in Philadelphia, PA. Check out the tour dates and some music from Vektor after the fold.
